The Bureau of Chemical Safety in Health Canada’s Food Directorate and the Food Allergy Research and Resource Program (FARRP) are sponsoring, along with support from MoniQA, the Sixth Workshop on Food Allergen Methodologies to take place in Toronto, ON Canada on May 9 – 12, 2010.
As a follow-up to the 2008 workshop organized by Health Canada and FARRP, the Sixth Workshop on Food Allergen Methodologies aims at increasing consultation, information exchange, and harmonization in the area of food allergens and analytical methods for food allergens.
The Sixth Workshop on Food Allergen Methodologies aims at gathering scientists, chemists, analysts and other representatives from government agencies, university, industry and consumer associations, to discuss issues related to detection, identification, characterization, and control of allergen residues in foods.

Various topics to be discussed:
- Method development / evaluation and validation/harmonization
- Risk assessment / risk management – Impact on methodology development
- Development of reference materials
- International approaches
- Approaches to regulation/control of food allergen
- Impact of processing on food allergen detection
Optional Tuesday Evening Dinner
An optional dinner which is not included in your registration will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the beautiful CN Tower 360 Restaurant. The cost is $65.00 per person and includes the elevation ticket, dinner, tax & gratuity. Your reservation must be paid no later than 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10. See below to register.

A poster session will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 from 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. Abstracts are due Friday, March 12, 2010 to Pat Gergen at pgergen2@unl.edu.

The workshop will be held at the Marriott Toronto Downtown Eaton Centre in Toronto, ON Canada. Reservations should be made directly with the hotel by calling 1.800.905.0667 or 1.416.597.9200. A special room rate of $169 CAD plus tax for single or double occupancy is being offered to workshop participants. Please ask for the Food Allergen Methodology Workshop group rate.
